Legion Go 1 not starting after adjusting SSD

E: Well it got knocked down from a standing position (with the kickstand) onto its back (not a serious fall, just tilted backwards because of my cat) and after landing flat on its back it works now. I’ll be looking into better solutions later but at least for now I know I didn’t completely brick it

Hey again all,

I posted a couple days ago about some SSD issues — opened it up and it was noticeably loose. I took some advice from that post and ordered a new adaptor because the former owner of this unit seems to have added a 2280 SSD prior to my purchasing it. I also purchased a copper plate kit to help with the heat.

However, today I opened it back up, switched out the adaptor (using the same SSD, only changed the adaptor), and put on the heat sink. Then I had to take off the heat sink because the shell wouldn’t close with it on lol.

Now when I turn on the console it just boots to a blank screen. I can hear the fan going and the controllers and power button light up, and the screen “lights up” but stays black.

I opened it back up and replaced the adapter with the first one and the issue persists. I’ve looked at as many posts as possible and can’t quite figure out what may have gone wrong. Since I bought this used, I’m not sure if there’s a chance of sending it in?

Booting it up without the SSD in at all won’t even show a BIOS/failure to boot screen. Not sure what that’s about.

Anyone have any ideas or guidance? Feeling pretty disappointed that I not only failed to fix my SSD issue but seem to have somehow made it worse lol

I think my SSD is loose (LeGo 1)

Edit: what an awesome community. I didn’t expect this much help this quickly! Several commenters helped me figured what needed to be fixed and other things to help out. Definitely looks like the former owner was a bit heavy handed making his own alterations. I was able to order a new adapter because this one is loose, and a small heatsink to hopefully help keep it cooler and assist in holding stuff in place. If that doesn’t work I’ll look into a new SSD altogether. Thank you all again!

Hey all,

I purchased my LeGo 1 used for a pretty good deal on Facebook marketplace a few months ago. Over the last month or so, I keep getting boot errors that lead me to believe the SSD is loose inside. I opened up today and it definitely sits a bit loose, I can feel a definite wiggle. It also doesn’t look like other default SSDs I’ve seen in these products.

I don’t know a ton about the initial release of the LeGo 1, but it seems like the former owner opened it up and replaced the SSD? There’s no screws screwing it down, and I couldn’t find a spot to put one in. I’ll attach a picture.

The system runs fine when it runs. However, placing it down (however gently) can freeze the device because it’s probably knocking the SSD around. Start up can take a while only because I have to give it a couple gentle smacks to get the SSD back in place and it usually takes a few tries.

My question is how can I secure the ssd better so it won’t wiggle? Since I can’t find a spot for a screw, should I just look into buying a new SSD? I’m not *super* tech savvy but I know enough to look inside and get some ideas about what’s happening.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advanced!
