1. Creation of the Heavens and Earth
In the beginning, God created everything—the heavens above and the earth below. At first the earth had no form and was empty, covered in darkness, while God’s Spirit moved over the waters.
2. The First Day – Light
God spoke light into existence, separating light from darkness. He called the light “Day” and the darkness “Night.”
3. The Second Day – The Sky
God created the firmament, or sky, to separate the waters above from the waters below.
4. The Third Day – Land and Plants
God gathered the waters so dry land appeared. He called the land “Earth” and the waters “Seas.” Then He caused plants, grass, and fruit trees to grow.
5. The Fourth Day – Sun, Moon, and Stars
God created the sun to rule the day and the moon to rule the night, along with the stars, to mark seasons, days, and years.
6. The Fifth Day – Fish and Birds
God filled the seas with living creatures and the skies with birds, blessing them to multiply.
7. The Sixth Day – Animals and Humans
God created animals on the land and then made humans in His own image, giving them dominion over the earth.
8. God Declares Creation Good
God saw everything He had made and declared it very good.
