Need advice
TLDR: No matter where I live or what I do, my AC units constantly go out to the point of needing professional repair.
Hello everyone, I’m needing a little bit of advice because this problem has been going on for a little over 8 years now and I have yet to be able to figure it out on my own. I have been renting for the past eight years from three different places and stayed in two hotels for two separate weeks during that time.
My first apartment in Texas had an AC that went out at least once every three months. Kept the temperature between 69-72°and it was a swamp cooling system. It did this the entire time I lived there and had numerous parts get replaced without any solutions.
I had gone on vacation to California and had a window box unit stop working in the hotel I was staying at. I never touched it.
While moving, I stayed in a hotel a few hours away in Texas and had the AC unit go out the night we checked in. It also was not touched by us.
My next apartment was in Tennessee and this place had central air. We kept it between 70-75°, got routine maintenance, and it still was going out at least once a week. They narrowed it down to a fuse issue, but were never able to fix it long-term.
Now I am renting a house in Tennessee that has a massive outdoor air system that leads to a central system within the home. It is warranty and insured and per my new landlord has rarely had any issues. But it still went out last night. We keep this one between 72-75° and have only been living here for three weeks. It is always the same exact issue with every AC unit where the fan still works, but it stops blowing cold air.
With how many different AC units this has happened to I feel like I have to be the common denominator here and must be doing something wrong, but I cannot figure it out. If anyone has any insight, please help. TIA
