GPU clocked to 100%, horrible battery life, 85°C temperatures, NEED HELP/FIX FAST (Surface Laptop 7)

Hi all

I have had this problem where my Surface 7 Laptop 15" 32GB RAM 1TB SSD overheats to temperatures of around 80º Celcius on the area right above the keyboard and spreads the heat all around the base of the device when running medium-high end programs or light games or/and simply just charging the device. This causes the battery life to deplete extremely fast, lasting only below 2 hours. I only use the device on a flat desk, it is not always plugged in, and isn't used directly in the sunlight. There is also no air vents being blocked by dust or anything. This problem has started ever since I bought it from PBTech as an open-box unit 4 months ago. I have tried using power saving options and modes, but they don't help the problem.

I created a service ticket and sent my device to Microsoft's service center overseas in Australia around 2 months ago and they 'fixed' and sent it back to me, but the problem still persists. I then sent it to PBTech (where I bought it) for them to do servicing (although they said they would send it to Microsoft again for servicing) and they sent it back, but again, the problem still persists.

Not too long ago, I figured out that the 80 degree heating is the GPU's fault, being clocked to 100%. I went to stores today and tested the same programs on a Surface 7 Laptop 16GB RAM 500GB SSD, but the GPU was only clocked to 50% and was nowhere near as hot as mine. I do not know why the battery life on idle or when using normal apps is terrible, nowhere close to the 22 hours as advertised -- with my device lasting around 5 hours despite being professionally replaced and repaired twice.

It seems like this problem will never be fixed or go away, and this post is my last resort. If someone has any information on this matter or can help me get this permanently fixed, that would be amazing. I do NOT want to compromise any performance.

Thank you

Horrible battery life on Surface 7 Laptop

I'm not even running any power-intensive apps and even if I was it shouldn't be THIS bad

Nowhere near the advertised 22 hour battery life

Model: Surface 7 Laptop 15" 32GB RAM 1TB SSD

I created a service ticket and sent my device to Microsoft's service center overseas in Australia around 3 weeks ago and they 'fixed' and sent it back to me yesterday, but the problem still persists. I have just sent it to PBTech (where I bought it) for them to do servicing (although they said they would send it to Microsoft again for servicing) and I should be waiting around 20 days for me to receive it back.

It seems like this problem will never be fixed or go away, and this post is my last resort. If someone has any information on this matter or can help me get this permanently fixed, that would be amazing.

Hi all

I have had this problem where my Surface 7 Laptop 15" 32GB RAM 1TB SSD (ARM processor) overheats to temperatures of around 80º Celcius on the area right above the keyboard and spreads the heat all around the base of the device when running medium-high end programs or light games or/and simply just charging the device. It becomes so hot that it will cause burns if touching for over 5 seconds. This causes the battery life to deplete extremely fast, lasting only below 2 hours. I only use the device on a flat desk, it is not always plugged in, and isn't used directly in the sunlight. This problem has started ever since I bought it from PBTech as an open-box unit 4 months ago.
