My iD4/Volkswagen story

London, Ontario. Canada. Bought 2024 pro in Jan 25. When it's on the road, I generally like it. Had issues with windows and not fond of infotainment system but drives nicely and range has been as advertised. In November, recalled to dealer for software update. For four months, I was without my iD4 as update attempts disabled vehicle and they couldn't solve problem. For almost all of that time, I had a rental Jetta. When my car was returned last month, I inquired/complained about: four months of payments while being without the car, four months of insurance payments while being denied the car, four months lost of extended warranty, four months lost of electrify Canada use and four months of paying for gas when I obviously had chosen and paid a premium to leave that world behind (if I had wanted a Jetta, I would have bought a Jetta). Months of emails to Volkswagen Canada went unanswered (though phone calls revealed they were well aware of them). Customer service was terrible and / or non-existent. Finally, service manager at dealership informed me they had agreed to cover one month's payment (approx $1000 CDN) and whatever gas costs were incurred (first time this was even mentioned) for the inconvenience /costs. I wasn't realIy thrilled about this but printed out individual gas transactions from credit card / Costco gas statements, totalling about $500. Actual gas cost was higher as my Jetta wouldn't accommodate many trips with dog /stuff etc. Anyway, finally informed by VW that they would not accept my gas receipts (what did they think I was buying at "costco gas", "petro Canada" etc for $60.00 at a time?) and that they required the printed receipts from the gas station, which they had never, ever asked for. Anyway, still waiting to receive anything at all and sickened by entire situation. The only thing I can promise is never to ever spend one cent on a Volkswagen product ever again. They don't deserve my business: they made me pay for their defective product and then failed to rectify the situation in any satisfactory manner. Don't hate the car even with all the problems but definitely hate the customer service we received and will never be taken advantage of by VW again. Thoughts?
