Hello to all. I am currently experiencing severe pain from middle spine going round my ribs. From time to time I do experience pain in my sternum but not to the extent that it bothers me. The pain in my back and left side is also felt when I take deep breaths and when coughing.

The pain radiates to the side of ribs and feels like a tight belt in my upper abdomen. I tried everything, osteopath, massage, voltaren gel, ibuprofen and muscle relaxants. I can’t even wear a bra as it is painful.

I will now try Licodaine patches and will soon be doing an MRI. Could this be more intercostal neuralgia rather than costochondritis? Are both conditions treated the same? Feeling hopeless.
