I took my son to a drawing workshop yesterday which was hosted by Beano artist Laura Howell (probably best known for illustrating Minnie the Minx). The workshop was informative, easy going and very accessible, teaching kids (and the grown ups 😆) that drawing doesn't have to be hard when we use simple shapes and a little imagination. We had the pleasure of meeting her afterwards as she was giving out free bookmarks and selling and signing copies of her new book; Secret Agent Nessie. She was also kind enough to sign a copy of the Beano comic which she did the cover for and also have a photo with my son. If you have the chance to meet her, she is lovely and incredibly friendly.

Head down to TG Jones now for a FREE Beano comic. TG Jones and Beano have teamed up for the National Year of Reading and are encouraging kids (and big kids 😉) to read with this free issue. As far as I'm aware, the strips inside are exclusive to this issue and there's coupons inside too for money off a Beano comic as well as a code for the recently released Beano joke book. There was also a photo stand in of Dennis and Gnasher, but I didn't have my son with me, so I didn't utilise it. Apparently the promo lasts for a week starting yesterday.

So I recieved these limited edition Dennis and Gnasher rubber ducks yesterday. Released to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Dennis the Menace, only a 1000 of each duck has been made, making them a pretty low brow collectable. There is a comic strip on the back of each box and if you get both ducks, then it makes for the full story, though they do send you a card with both parts of the story on too. They are available through Duck World, a rubber duck company that focuses on pop culture. I quite like these AND if you're one of the first 100 to order, you get a 2026 Beano annual thrown in for free! 🤗

My son and I (more so my son of course) are in next weeks Beano. His subscriber copy turned up today and we was delighted to spot it. What an absolute joy to the day. He is well happy with this 😆
