South East Asia for 1 year - Mobile phone topics...
I live in Belgium. I must keep my Belgian phone number while I'm away travelling. My phone contract is with Proximus. They recommended I switch to prepaid to keep my phone number (topping up at least once a year) - if not, they charge you 7.50€/day...! And to get a local eSIM for the Internet...
My worry: if I lose my phone (or break it, or it gets stolen...) then I lose the SIM card and I'm screwed. So I thought that switching to Proximus eSIM would allow me to simply change phone, and then link that new phone to my Proximus account... but no: the eSIM is one installation only...!
Any advice on the strategy / operator to use to maintain my phone number AND overcome issues with my phone being physically lost...? Is there an operator active both in Belgium and Asia?
