2016 Jeep patriot Sport 2.4L refuses to start up
Vehicle broke down in the middle of the road this past Saturday. Can suddenly stopped responding to acceleration pedal. Pulled up the emergency brake, turned car off and attempted to turn it back on. Nothing worked, car refused to start up again. A small amount of what appeared to be water vapor came out of the front engine compartment (could not identify source of vapor) accompanied by a smell that had notes of burnt metal.
- Crankshaft Position Sensor was replaced
- Vehicle had a blown A/C pump which got replaced (found this out upon lifting the car).
- Checked alternator, battery & Ignition Motor (all 3 appear to be operational)
- Attached a Diagnostic tool to car and it claims that it has code P0688
- Checked the power relays, 2 of them had the starting signs of very minor corrosion (as small as a grain of rice or smaller). Replaced both relays.
- Checked all the fuses and all appear to be working.
Car still refuses to start up. We are currently stumped as to what the issue may be can you all kindly advise as to what steps we should take now?
