Better Late than Never
Hey everyone,
I know it's been a few weeks since FirstTutor shut down and things have moved fast. We could've jumped in sooner but we wanted to take a breath and show up the right way rather than just rush in to fill a gap, so better late than never.
I'm one of two devs behind Vital Educators, a UK based tutoring platform. I've tutored computer science myself so I know what it's like to be on your side of this, building a student base, collecting reviews, relying on a platform and just hoping it sticks around.
We've spent years building the foundations the hard way, mostly before AI tools were even a thing. Tutor profiles, messaging, payments, it's all there. We've also got a system to bring over your FirstTutor reviews so the reputation you worked hard for doesn't just vanish. And now with AI in our corner we're honestly moving faster than ever, so a lot more is coming.
I also need to address something that's been bugging me. We've seen people in different communities calling us scammers since FirstTutor closed. I get why people are on edge right now, but that one genuinely stings because we are so far from that. We're building something we actually care about and I'd rather answer every hard question you've got than have that label stick, so please, ask away.
Look, other platforms have popped up and they might be great. I'm not here to compete with anyone. But what FirstTutor taught all of us is don't put all your eggs in one basket. So even if you're already on another platform, come create a profile with us too. And when you do, tell us how it feels, what's smooth, what's not, what you wish was there. We genuinely want to know. Every bit of feedback goes straight into what we build next and we're all ears.

P.S: I am not posting this get students or parents. We just want tutors to give our platform a try so we can build upon that and give them a platform they can rely on for a foreseeable future
