Your cravings aren't random. They're on a fucking clock.

This one took me way too long to figure out. Every time I got a craving I thought it was stress or me just being weak or whatever. Nope. It was fucking literally just chemistry on a timer.

I didnt know Nicotine has a half-life of about 2 hours. So you use a 6mg pouch, 2 hours later you've got about 3mg left in your system. 4 hours later about 1.5mg. When you drop below what your brain expects, the craving hits.

And that's why cold turkey is such a bastard. You go from your normal level to zero and your brain completely shits itself. That 48 to 72 hour wall where everyone caves? I hit it at least four times. Thought there was something wrong with me, that i was just weak etc. There wasn't. I was just trying to white knuckle through a pharmacological crash.

I work in healthcare and spoke to one of the pharamists in work about this and she made such a good point, We don't yank people off benzos or opioids overnight. We taper them gradually. Let the brain catch up. Same thing works for nicotine but nobody ever talks about it for pouches.

So I started tracking in milligrams instead of pouch count because a 10mg Velo and a 4mg ZYN are completely different beasts. Reduced my target a small bit each week. Never hit that wall again. Off them completely now, day 90 something.

If you've tried cold turkey and failed don't beat yourself up over it. It might not be you. It might just be the approach.
