***update - advice? the tech reached out to me - why don’t they like to do a deep clean like that? “Do you know how old your unit is by chance? The growth that was on the split Is not something we normally see. I had also noticed that it was also growing inside of the unit and not just on the fins, unfortunately cleaning the inside of the unit would be a lot more work just because we would have to take everything apart which we typically do not like to do. The growth is most likely occurring because the unit isn't draining the condensate like it is supposed to be.”
*the unit is only 5 or 6 years old and has only been used for 2 summers
I requested a mini split clean due to mold/mildew(I know all mildew is mold) in my unit a couple of weeks ago. The tech cleaned the unit, but there was still a ton of mildew inside it. I reached back out to the company, letting them know there was still mildew, and they told me I needed a deep clean, not a regular clean (though I did mention that there was mildew then the tech came the first time). They said they'd charge me another $100 as the deep clean is a more in-depth process and requires a longer time. The guy came today while I was at work and only spent 20 minutes on the "deep clean". He used some form of spray that is in a store-bought brand spray bottle, and he had a mask on. I haven't seen the results yet because I am not home, but I am assuming that is not enough time to do a full deep clean as I requested. How do I know if they actually did the deep clean? What should I look for? The unit is in my daughter's room. I can't imagine he did a full deep clean.
These are pictures from after the tech came the first time to clean the unit.
