I would appreciate any tips and ideas to improve my poor yard.

This is a new build with terribly compacted clay dirt that pools up during heavy rain. It drains in the low part, underneath the fence gate, going from the back to the front.

I’m interested in installing vegetable garden beds in the back as it receives full sun. I’m also interested in landscaping with native plants, but not completely set on this.

Do I just start with aerating and planting grass seed to try and prevent further erosion? Would grass help with the flooding issue?

Please help!
