One Year, 100+ Chapters, and Many Consequences

One Year, 100+ Chapters, and Many Consequences

One year ago today, I posted the first chapter of Her Grace, Uncrowned on Royal Road.

This was, objectively, a very sensible decision: writing a long political fantasy novel in my second language, with legal drama, slow-burn romance, council meetings, archives, family secrets, magical consequences, and a heroine who would rather be left alone with her books and patients than inherit an entire duchy.

Clearly, I enjoy suffering. 😅

A year later, the story has grown into something much larger than I first imagined. Vartis, Candlekeep, Kentar, Velarith, the Society, the court, the archives, the people who should absolutely not be trusted with power… I love this world and these characters far more than is probably healthy.

I’ll be honest: the first 15–20 chapters are rougher than the later ones. I know it. I’ve learned a lot while writing this story, and once the novel is complete, I fully intend to go back and rewrite the hell out of the beginning. So, dear random reader stumbling upon this post: have mercy. The story grows. The prose improves. The consequences get worse.

If you enjoy character-driven political fantasy, slow-burn romance, sharp dialogue, dangerous secrets, flawed people trying their best, and paperwork that can ruin lives, Her Grace, Uncrowned might be for you.

One year, 100+ chapters, and many questionable decisions later: thank you to everyone who has read, followed, commented, reviewed, rated, or simply kept coming back.

Here’s to the first year of Her Grace, Uncrowned—and to all the consequences still waiting behind the next door.
