Hypermobile in unobvious places?
I don’t believe I meet the diagnostic criteria for connective tissue disorder but wondering if anybody has experienced similar? Not looking for medical advice but rather anecdotes on what’s helped and what professionals you’ve discussed with.
I don’t have the typical thumb/knee/elbow hyper extension but I do have:
-Apparent hypermobility in shoulders - can subluxation easily have pronounce scapular winging that I’ve actively worked and and reposition frequently
-Very bendy back
-constantly twisting ankle just slips and bends to ground
-Potentially hyper mobile hips? I do feel joints like shoulders and hips catching when doing things like yoga.
-All my joint click and clack constantly. When I stand sometimes I feel like I need to just click my knee just right to be stable/not have pain. Same with shoulders.
-Right now have had flank/hip/back pain for over three months and after ruling out serious illness, I think it could an SI joint problem. In general it feels like some joint is bothering me. Chronic shoulder and neck pain and now hips and knees bug me a lot. Only 33!
-chronically tense muscles
-dizzy with movement especially lately and has made it really challenging chasing my toddlers and has discouraged me from workouts
-seemingly IBS since childhood…have been told I have slow ‘motility (?)’ as colonoscopy prep was not great for me and was very hard to get out anything. Chronic GI issues I’ve just never really wanted to work extensively with a GI because I feel like not a lot of help comes from traditional medicine with digestive trouble and now I have two littles and adhd, it’s nearly impossible to control my own diet.
Help! Has PT helped you? Other suggestions? Could it be something else I can look into even though I don’t have the classic visual hypermobility?
