Finishing up the yearly Tokyo trip. With the excitement over the Neo Geo AES+ the pocket has seen quite the interest and rise in prices. I’ll post more once I’m back but for those collecting and curious this was what I saw.
Snagged the carbon and a light blue color for around $100 as well. And a monochrome boxed CIB for $116.
Games were pretty expensive (cheaper than eBay) and snagged a loose Denshen De Go for $33
Posted a few days ago but as I finish up the yearly Tokyo trip it has been all Neo geo.
What started as a hunt for sub $100 AES games turned into appreciation for the love of the brand.
Empty shelves on a Monday led to full shelves (albeit higher prices) by Saturday. It does seem a loose game can be had for under $100 but the “cheaper” games like Fatal Fury 2, SS1 and others are now a $150-$200 game locally.
Country side stores have caught on as well so it’ll be interesting to see what happens the closer we get to November. Enjoy the pics and videos.
For those unaware, red lined glass cases are in Mandarake and they cater to a higher end market so even a game labeled as Damaged is something we consider perfect condition and prices are higher.

You can tell there’s excitement for the aes+ and the only folks in the SNK store seeing the demo model were elder millennials and Gen X. We are seen 😂🫡
Currently on my yearly trip to Tokyo and started game hunting. Current state of the Neo geo market is basically what 4am, Retro Rewire and the rest are saying….
Every “cheap” AES game is gone. The wold heroes jet I snagged is the “cheapest” game and it was $91 after tax breaks. That was the last sub $100 game in all of the area.
Even my beloved Neo Geo pocket is seeing incredibly high prices compared to last time.
It was great seeing the AES+ in person. Super hype for the release!
What I thought would happen did, folks realize adding the cheap games to their collections in anticipation of the AES+. Still always fun In Akiba!
