Was walking on Bùi Viện on a Friday night. Lots of dancers, lots of music that was pretty loud and booming. There were also sporadic lines of sex workers outside storefronts. It’s not really my scene but I’m all for nightlife. I’m looking around and people watching until I see a woman and an agitated baby, couldn’t be more than 8mos, sitting on a piece of cardboard begging for money. There were more like this along the length of the street. Kids were also running around selling trinkets. Call me naive but I was shook for a while seeing children and babies in the middle of the night, surrounded by insanely loud music, half naked dancers, and hungry expats. :(

Edit: might also add, I’m not sure if it was just where I went, but it wasn’t the case in “party streets” in Hanoi, Siem Reap, and Bangkok
