I have a remote job where I do have to go into the office every other Monday. My boss has been discriminating against me since December when I asked for an accommodation request, which was granted by the company. I’ve consulted an attorney and also filed a formal complaint with the company where I work. However, the stress has exacerbated my symptoms. I had a mild case of CFS after getting mono but then I got Covid in 2020 and now it’s pretty bad along with having long Covid and POTS. I badly crashed and took medical leave of absence from work. Then I had a bout of depression and ideations from the crash - the crash was that bad - nausea, body aches, chills, sore throat and muscles, exhaustion, unable to get out of bed. I pace well so I haven’t crashed this bad in years.

To be honest, I’m so worn down. I don’t have the energy really to fight these people. After talking to my family husband and therapist, I thought it best to focus on recovering from the crash and look for another job. I got a job offer but they want me to work in office for the first 30 days for training and then switch me to a hybrid or remote. There’s physically no way I can go to the office in person every single day. I could formally request an accommodation but at the offer stage, the company can just rescind they offer. They are insistent that I have to be in person the first 30 days for training and then they will grant the hybrid or remote schedule. I feel quite discouraged, I really wanted the job. It’s a better environment with a better opportunity. My former coworker gave me a reference and the company was so impressed with me interview skills. I feel stuck, that my CFS, POTS, long covid limits me to only jobs that are remote or hybrid. With most companies going back to return to office, it’s more difficult to find remote/hybrid roles. I worked remotely for 6 years straight and that counts as able to work so I can’t go on disability at this point. Feeling discouraged.
