"Mystic River" – My Channa aristonei setup. Probably the first one of its kind here?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my current project called "Mystic River". It’s a dedicated setup for my Channa aristonei (also known as "Red Mosaic"). Since this species was only scientifically described in 2020, I haven't seen it posted here yet.

Tank Specs:

Model: Juwel Lido 200

Lighting: Dimmed to 40% to mimic a natural, shaded habitat.

Flora: Dense cover of floating plants and various epiphytes on the wood.

Hardscape: Large driftwood structures providing multiple caves and vertical hiding spots.

Care & Behavior:

I’m focused on providing a natural seasonal cycle. Right now, the tank is in its active phase, but I ensure a proper winter dormancy period with temperatures dropping to around 18-20°C. These fish really appreciate low flow and plenty of cover to feel secure.

The Aristonei is a stunning predator with intense blue hues and red markings that really stand out against the dark, moody background of the tank.

What do you guys think? Any other snakehead enthusiasts here?
