Criterion D: SCIENCES
- Be specific, not generic
- · Be explanatory instead of listing points
- · Give scientific and real information, not opinion-based (Criterion D is not a feelings paragraph; you must give reasons)
- · Don’t mix results with impacts e.g. “the reaction rate increased so it is useful” Instead: the increased rate of reaction shows that the process is efficient, making the method suitable for industrial-scale production
- · Use scientific language
- · State clear problems. For example, instead of “this helps in climate change,” say: The use of clean energy such as solar and wind energy reduces the emission of greenhouse gases, which contribute to climate change
- · Avoid vague or uncertain impacts; be very specific
- · Don’t over claim (avoid absolute statements)
- · Don’t overwrite or underwrite
Remember: A strong reflection is one that is analytical, informed, specific, evidence-based, and balanced.
