Getting paid for travel/OT - Freelancer
Hi guys,
I just wanted to ask something here. I'm a camera assistant and when I get hired usually I get paid my fee + transport and food covered. Now, I've been working on some shoots for this guy who I used to work for, and I've been questioning our work relationship.
The first time we worked together after I quit with his company (I was PAYE) and got hired as a freelancer, I asked about travel and food being covered and he said that since I'm not an employee anymore he won't basically cover for those. I remember asking about food and travel separately. One day I asked nicely if I could get food covered for and he kind of agreed. But since then, I haven't really done that again seeing that he was frowning about it when I asked him basically.
Now, this is all a bit weird for me because it's not industry standard not to cover for expenses, and we recently worked on a shoot with another camera assistant that mentioned to me that they will ask for OT since we went over on that shoot. Now, I don't know what to do.
I don't know if I'm gaslighting myself into thinking that I shouldn't mention the OT and should just ask to cover for the travel for the last two shoots we did since I still need to send the invoice? How would you deal with this?
