What if you could earn royalties each time your answers get accessed?

Former operator, do paid expert calls on the side. Decent money — but I only get paid when I'm personally free for the call. Day job means I'm probably turning down (or never even seeing) most requests just because of timing.

The part that bugs me: I answer a lot of the same questions over and over, one client at a time, and none of it compounds. Feels like I'm paid for my calendar, not my knowledge. And then I find out the network stores my call in some transcript library and sells subscriptions to it — so my answers keep making them money long after the call, and I never see a cent past my hourly rate...

Got me wondering — what if instead of a flat fee, you earned a royalty every time someone actually used your knowledge, including after the call and when you're not around? Turn the stuff you already know into something that keeps paying out instead of dying when you hang up.

Would that actually appeal to you, or does "passive income off your own expertise" sound too good / too sketchy to trust? Curious how others doing these calls think about it.
