How to check whether OmniDrive has been applied
I bought a BUFFALO BRXL-PTV6U3, and the internal drive turned out to be a BU40N.
I have tried flashing various firmware versions. In MakeMKV, the LibreDrive information now shows:
- Status: Enabled
- Firmware: Patched
- Microcode access: Re-enabled
- Firmware version: 1.03
However, when I try to dump GameCube discs with MPF, it does not work properly. MPF just freezes.
I tried several different GameCube discs, but the result was the same every time.
On the other hand, when I ripped a normal DVD-Video disc with MPF using the same drive, it successfully created a playable ISO. So I do not think there is a hardware problem with the drive itself.
So my question is: has this drive really been converted into an OmniDrive?
Although MakeMKV shows several statuses as enabled, I understand that this is not necessarily the same thing as OmniDrive support.
According to the wiki, after applying OmniDrive, the drive should be recognized by the PC as “HL-DT-ST BU40N”. However, as far as I can see, no matter which firmware I flash, and even after unplugging and reconnecting the USB cable, the drive name remains the same as when I bought it: BUFFALO.
Is it correct to understand this as: LibreDrive was successfully enabled, but OmniDrive conversion failed?
