Do all comments have to be serious?

I recently joked on a (now locked) posted collection that had many hand sanitizers that that’s where they all went, because it’s a common experience to search around DT locations to find them. OP joked they had an “addiction” in their post. I received a copy/paste reply from a mod to not comment on other’s hauls…. But isn’t that the point? People post hauls for others to see them and comment on them! I love buying things from dollar tree too! Hand sanitizers are just quite difficult to find around me. That’s not OP’s fault 😂 unless she actually lives down the street from me! I didn’t use the word hoarding and let’s be for real, OP’s 30 hand sanitizers aren’t keeping all of America from getting some. Other more serious comments that implied OP’s haul was ‘excessive’ (just like OP implied) were kept.

I’ve read the rules. Can someone explain to me the proper way to comment so that a removal isn’t triggered?

Wanting advice on dealing with a sick/nauseous person in the house

Hello! Would like input from people who have dealt with this, especially if you’ve experienced this over extended periods of time (weeks/months).

So I’m currently quite panicky; the past two weeks have been rough with my emetophobia because about 10 days ago my husband’s cubicle neighbor threw up at his desk a few feet away from my husband. Thankfully my husband isn’t an emetophobe so he didn’t really care, but it did concern me that he could have been exposed to something. Of course, who knows if whatever caused the guy to throw up was contagious. I did engage in some safety behaviors but tried to keep it minimal for the sake of recovery. While I have been intermittently anxious since then, today I was at a point of accepting that the theoretical worst of possible exposure is over.

Then tonight, an hour or two ago, my husband says he’s having stomach pain so I probably want to leave the room. He was out with friends today and had some drinks, but hasn’t ever thrown up from that in the many years I’ve known him. I do think I may have heard him throwing up a couple times now.

We all have our justifications of why throwing up is so scary, and I have always been an emetophobe, but I am currently extra concerned about getting sick because one of my vocal cords was recently paralyzed and my lungs cannot be fully closed off from my esophagus, which I’ve read is not ideal for vomiting. I cannot effectively cough to clear any blockages either. I would likely be fine, I hope, and it could be worse, but it is still a concern.

I’m just disillusioned, sad, and very anxious and scared right now. For me, the fear is that it is contagious. If I knew it was not, I would be much better.

If you have dealt with the concern of a house- or family member being sick for an extended period of time, how did you cope with the uncertainty? What did you tell yourself? Were you successful in avoiding safety behaviors? How did you behave if you weren’t sure if something was norovirus or not? Would love to hear from others!
