2 years in the game, running a real setup, the product side never got less hit-or-miss. Not that things weren't working, it was just costing too much money to land a winner. Store was good, ads were good, research routine was established. The issue was always lurking in plain sight.

I realized that every single source I was using, marketplace data, trend tracking, product lists etc., were all based on what happened yesterday. Sales from last week, peak engagement that happened three days ago, products already picked up and scaled by other sellers. The problem was, by the time the data hit me the window had already been open long enough for established sellers to be miles ahead.

So I switched focus to what was happening before anything of the sort existed. Early engagement on TikTok and Reels, products getting abnormally high watch times and saves when they weren't really discovered yet. My "window" seemed to be 2-3 weeks, from the first signs until the market gets too competitive. Re-watches > 25%, sustained watching over 10 seconds, saves indicative of buying intent...These signals are huge, and products that consistently hit them before competition escalates will convert.

I found a tool that tracks all of that automatically and flags the products before the window closes. I’m not going to mention it specifically as this post is not meant to be about that, but it has completely changed how I research and acquire products. My advertising spend doesn't get eaten up by finding a product a week after it has already passed its peak, which, for any real ad spend, can cost a serious amount.

My win rate increased a way that is evident month over month. It's not a huge jump that looks like a fluke, rather the decisions going into product launches are more informed and failures don't cost nearly as much. That's the ratio that's key when you're doing this on a larger scale.

If your current experience level doesn't match your current results, something is off. The majority of the sources commonly used in this niche are just taking past performance and framing it as a current opportunity.

For some reason, the OG post got deleted.

But quick Recap:

My(18M) friend (18M) is dating a girl (17F) (her bday is in July). After their boards, they hung out at her parents' house in April (she was home alone). One thing led to another and I don't need to tell you what happened next.

Being the idiot he is, he forgot to use protection.

Now on May 1, she called him and told him her period was late. The next day, he got her a pregnancy test (he found some random brand for cheap). The test came back positive and he called me and started to cry. For more context, I had lied to his mom to help him be at his gf's house for the next 5 hours.

Her father (ex-military) is extremely strict and wouldn't even let her near boys, let alone become pregnant due to one. Same for my friend's parents (although not as strict).

Anyways......

So, on May 4, I took my ₹1000 savings and brought actually good quality pregnancy tests from a good medical store where the uncle didn't suspect me. I got 2 of them and my friend snuck into her society to give it to her. She took those..... Guess what? It was a false positive. She was (luckily) never pregnant.

She called my friend and informed him about it, and he then called me last night. I don't think you guys realise how much relief I felt.

This idiot would've gotten charged with POCSO (as some comments told me) and I would've been dragged too, since I helped him, this making me an "accomplice" or in simple words "partner in crime". Right now, we are both working to dispose of the pregnancy tests for good.

For those who are curious: no I'm not the bf here, pretending to have a friend, I am only helping him, so that I don't get charged with any crime. If she had actually been pregnant my plan was to cut off contact and run away to another country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with India. (I'm not joking).

So, lesson learnt, don't have idiot friends and use condom when f*cking around.

Also thank you to all people that recommended the Papaya and Salt thingie. Thankfully, we don't need to resort to that stuff. And my friend now owes me a gigantic favour.

One hell of a headache this was

So I(18M) have a friend(18M) who has a gf(17F) he has been dating since 9th grade. They have been friends since 5th/6th grade. So anyways, he is a commerce student and she is arts student. After their boards, they decided to "chill out" at her house after her parents had gone to visit her grandparents.

He stayed at her house for like 6 to 7 hrs, lying to his mom that he was with me (he ofc, informed me about it). I lied for him and that's that. Well, guess what, when he was over at her house, and they were alone, they apparently did "that". The idiot has forgotten to bring condoms and didn't think it would be too much of a problem.

Well, almost a month later now, she calls him and tells him her period is late. He sneaks around and buys a pregnancy test for her. Guess what? She is pregnant. He is now panicking and called me last night. He was crying and begging me to help him find a solution. Since abortion with a minor girl is not only expensive but risky.

His parents are strict and they will kill him if they find out. Meanwhile, her parents are a strict family. I have met them once, and her father (an ex-military guy) is extremely strict and disciplined. He would get mad at her if she got too close to a boy, let alone get pregnant.

Guys help us out! Please.....
