Hey everyone, I’m kinda stuck between two options and would really appreciate honest opinions

My options:

NYU (Liberal Arts Core)

  • ~90k/year
  • planning to do philosophy/politics

Duke Kunshan University (DKU)

  • ~60k/year
  • probably PPE (philosophy, politics, econ)

I’m not 100% sure what I want to do long term — maybe law school, maybe a PhD, still figuring it out

What I’m thinking so far:

NYU is obviously more established in the US and probably better for law school + just general opportunities (NYC, internships, etc.), but it’s also insanely expensive and really big

DKU is a lot cheaper and much smaller, so I feel like it might be easier to get research, build relationships with profs, and stand out. Also the Duke connection + their grad school placements seem pretty solid from what I’ve seen. But it’s newer and I’m kinda worried about how it’s viewed, especially for US law

So I guess I’m torn between:

  • NYU = safer / more traditional path
  • DKU = cheaper + more “bet on myself” type option

Main questions:

  • Am I underestimating how much better NYU is?
  • Is DKU actually risky for law/grad school?
  • Is saving ~120k worth it here?

Any advice would help a lot 🙏
