Edition XS ->Edition XV worth the upgrade? (mostly for the the looks)
I got the HiFiMAN Edition XS about three weeks ago and really like them so far. I'm still inside my return window, so I could swap them out for the Edition XV if it makes sense. The main reason I'm even considering it is the aesthetics the XV looks way nicer to me than the plasticky XS frame. I've also heard the XV has better bass, which would be a nice bonus since I'd lean into more of that. The extra $ doesn't matter.
I'd also love to hear from anyone who's actually compared both:
- How noticeable is the sound difference? Subtle or night and day?
- Is the bass actually a meaningful step up, or just slightly different tuning?
- Anything about the XV that disappointed you coming from the XS?
For context: I'll be running them off a FiiO K11 amp/dac,. Music taste is mostly electronic, psybient (Shpongle, Ott), IDM (Aphex Twin, Tipper), bass/dubstep (Burial, Rezz), some hyperpop/breakcore (Sewerslvt, femtanyl), pop (Björk, Porter Robinson) and rock (Radiohead, TOOL).
