12 credits for full time status in quarter system, program only 36 credits?
I got accepted to a school for my Master's on the quarter system (University of California school) where 12 credits are required for full time status, which is the same as for undergrad students. The school seems to expect everyone is full time (part-time status has to be specifically approved). Tuition costs are totally covered for me at least.
I was hoping to work part-time while doing this program to afford rent and get job experience. This seems like a lot and the program is 36 credits. It's advertised as a two-year program, but this seems like it'd only be one year? Am I supposed to take filler classes or something? Am I even allowed to do that? Do I just hit the grind for one year? Thanks.
Edit: Thanks all for the responses. Seems like I've been mostly underestimating the time and work that goes into a thesis. I'll definitely talk to my program advisor as the Fall quarter gets closer.
