I've been dealing with significant hair loss, bed-confining fatigue, brain fog, etc. My ferritin is 10, hemoglobin is 11.9, iron is 42.

Five months ago I tried taking the "gentle iron" 25 mg oral iron supplements and even those were way too hard on my stomach. I managed to take them for a couple of months and eventually had a temporary energy boost, but once I switched to the more doable 15mg iron supplements I hit another low with hair loss, fatigue, etc - right back to where I started. I am beginning to wonder if the only way is an iron infusion. I don't know that I can take these pills for a month, let alone the year that it would probably take to get my iron close to the healthy range.

Has anyone with supplement sensitivities gotten their ferritin from <10 to >50 without an infusion? if you had an infusion, was it worth it?
