I have upcoming TDY travel but I want to extend the trip and come back a day later (already have the day off). My contracted flight is on American Airlines and is ticketed. Any advice on how to change it? I’ve called American twice, first time they told me it’d cost $400, the second time they said I can’t personally change it only the agency can do that. I’ve heard of people doing this in the past and pay nothing or only around $50. Am I saying something wrong when I call? Missing the code word?! Please help!
Edit: My agency’s guidance specifically says if you’re changing it for personal convenience you need to call the airline yourself and cover the cost. If the travel agency does it, it would charge the government card used to originally purchase the flight.
Edit: I’m not extending a reservation at the same hotel and no car reservation. I plan to incur all additional charges!
