How the Live-Action Remake of HTTYD 3 can fix the logic holes of the original finale (Genuinely fixing the Night Fury fate)
Hey everyone! Honestly, I’m still so mad about how the third movie completely ruined the Night Fury lore, and I know I'm not the only one. It makes zero sense that Grimmel somehow wiped out the entire species of the fastest and most dangerous dragons all by himself. That’s just BS. But the ending made it even worse.
By making Toothless only have those black-and-white hybrids (Night Lights), they officially ended the pure Night Fury bloodline. Once Toothless is gone, that's it—the species is extinct. It’s incredibly depressing.
Since Dean DeBlois has more creative freedom with the upcoming live-action remake, here are two realistic ways to fix this massive mistake:
Option 1: Follow Actual Genetics (Toothless + Light Fury)
If they absolutely have to keep the Light Fury, at least make their offspring follow actual biological logic instead of just designing them to sell toys. Give them 4 cubs:
Two pure Night Furies (a boy and a girl to keep the species alive)
One pure Light Fury.
And one hybrid (like Dart), so they can still sell merchandise without making the fans furious. Result: both species are saved, and everyone is happy.
Option 2: The Ultimate Fix (Toothless + another Night Fury)
Just cut the Light Fury from the plot entirely. Let's say Grimmel only wiped out the Night Furies living on the surface. When Toothless arrives at the Hidden World, he finds a whole surviving flock of pitch-black Night Furies. He pairs up with one of his own kind, and they have normal, purebred dragon cubs. This would make his return to his roots feel powerful and meaningful, rather than him just abandoning Berk for a "white cat" dragon.
Personally, I feel like either option would totally save the finale. What do you guys think?
