Seeing the "Action required" banner in the refund page of IRS.

So I moved out of US last year. I filled a resident tax return this year because I meet the substantial presence test for last year.

I mailed it to IRS from India using DHL. I used my Indian address in the return.

A week ago, I saw this banner on the IRS refund status page that says:

>Action Required

>Please read the following information related to your tax situation. You may need to provide additional information to receive your full refund.

Now I don't see anything in the Notices page. Nor do I see anything in the transcript page for 2025 as well. It just says "No return filled yet". I filled an extension, so I have till October to figure this out anyways. I have two questions about this:

  1. Will they send me the notice to my US address? Since I used my US address in my 2024 taxes. It was a rented apartment and I no longer live there nor do I have access to any mail sent to that address.
  2. Will they send me the notice to my Indian address? But that is the last address that IRS has on file for me.
  3. I am 99.99% sure that if the IRS sent me any mail to my Indian address, the Indian postal department will lose it. Not once in my life did I managed to successfully receive any international mail sent through USPS/India post to my Indian address successfully. I used to write letters to my mom in India from the US to try to surprise her. None of those letters reached her. What happens if the IRS mail never reaches me?

I am expecting about 4K in refunds. I used FreeTaxUSA to prepare my tax file. I had US wages, Capital gains and losses from the sale of stock, I rolled multiple 401K accounts into a IRA account before leaving, I received dividends on the stock I held. What can be in the notice? I filled US taxes for 10 years, I never had any problem.

I am losing my sleep over this. What do I need to do now.

About to rent a condo through an agent I found on Connex. I have seen the apartment it looks good.

She sent me the electricity bill and the bank passbook of the owner. No passport or Thai ID.

The electricity bill is from Metropolitan electricity Authority. It has the same name as the one on the bank passbook.

I asked to see the Chanote and she said Electricity bill is enough. I asked Connex people if they check the Chanote and property title to make sure the flat is actually owned by the person who is trying to rent it. And they said the rental agent checks the Chanote.

She seems to have keys to the apartment and she was able to show me the apartment.

Is this good enough? Should I go ahead and pay the rental deposit? Tried contacting the Juristic office, but I don't speak Thai. Can't go inside directly either, the people at the security gate are stopping me.

I moved to Thailand. I don't speak Thai. I might learn Thai. But it can't happen overnight.

I plan on buying a laptop. Almost all laptops here come with Thai Keyboards. I will most likely install Kubuntu on it. I might use Fedora, OpenSuse or Manjaro too. But I will definitely be using KDE with those distros as well.

Will owning a Thai laptop create any issues down the lane? On the Mac book that my employer provided. If I hit Cmd + space or Ctrl + space or something, it switches from English to Thai. Which is incredibly annoying. Sometimes capslock does that too.

Will there be an option to completely disable Thai on that laptop.

So having a laptop with keys that have both English and Thai alphabets is not the end of the world for me. I am good at touch typing, so I rarely look at the keyboard while I type.

But every now and then if I have to find a specific key on the keyboard, I find it a little distracting. I can get a keyboard cover for it, but it might make the laptop heat up faster.

Is it possible to order a laptop from Newegg or somewhere where I can get a laptop with only English alphabet?

Also if I buy a Samsung phone will it have anything baked into it's firmware that is Thailand specific. I am an expat and at some point I will be leaving the country and taking all of things that I buy with me. I am worried having Thailand specific things might cause a problem if I try to use it in a foreign country abroad.
