I'm looking to get a new pen to carry in my Lochby sling along with a midori MD notebook, but I'm stuck in indecision and looking for any insights that may help.
Usually when I choose a pen to carry around it's a brass Kaweco Sport (bombproof), but this time around the pen will have more protection (it'll be in a case, in the sling) and I'll be using it to practice Japanese and also write haiku, so I'm looking towards Japanese brands. (In my head that matches up correctly - it'd feel 'wrong' to use a kaweco, parker, montblanc etc for the job lol)
I have a Pilot Custom 67 with an OB nib and that's a lovely pen, but I want to get a thinner nib hence the F choice.
I'm aware of the general gist of sailor Vs pilot nibs (pencil-like feedback Vs smooth) but have yet to try a sailor nib in person and would really appreciate any feedback (pun intended) from owners.
Is it a pleasant feeling to have some feedback? I'm thinking it may actually help with practicing and writing haiku as it will give a bit more control, make me slow down a bit when writing (my everyday pens are buttery smooth parker 51s with medium nibs and I tend to write fast and most would say, incoherently lol).
What about practicalities? Is one more likely to suffer leaks or other issues Vs the other? Again, it'll be in a case and it'll be in an internal pocket of the bag with the tip up so I'm hoping that may be ok?
Also, what adaptors are available for the PGS? For the 74 I'd go with with con-70
I know the main attraction for most PGS fans are the wide variety of colours but I'm a fan of the classic black and gold livery with pens so I'd be looking at that for both the PGS and custom 74.
