trickier request

hi, i accidentally deleted the title for this fanfic, so all i can tell about it is that it's a Harry/Remus fanfic, written by germanfanfictioner, and is 2k long (2037 words exactly)

hopefully one of you can still find it, even without the key information !

if i had received a nickel each time ....

i saw send help earlier this year, and (no spoilers) Dylan O'Brien plays a wealthy guy who acts like an asshole. it can happen, actors choose their roles but not necessarily how their characters are written.

tonight, i'm watching anniversary, where he plays another wealthy guy who becomes even more of an asshole ! now i'm worried of seeing him in any role.

what other actor/actress seems to be typecasted/to play similar characters ?

after years of perfecting my reading tracker (on and off, i didn't just spend all my free time working on it), i finally came up with a perfect version for my taste !

for each fic i read, i write down the title, author, ship, length, status (if i reread it or not), and rating. i have a rating table that counts how many fics per rating i read, and another one that counts down how many fics per ship i read, and my wordcount per ship. the third table counts down how many words i read per month.

my last table is really my genius idea. when i first had a kindle, my fanfics were in a few collections : my TBR of the month, my read fics, my read smut (which were separated to find naughty snacks more easily) and my whole TBR. when i switched to a kobo, i decided to change and to have a collection per ship. when you add a fanfic to a Kobo collection, you can either scroll down till you find it, or type the page the collection is on. ao3's my buffet, and i have A LOT of collection. i only memorized the pages for my main ships.

one day, i had the brilliant idea of creating my collection table. i have listed all existing collections in a tab, and there's a formula connecting it to my tracker. now, everytime i type a ship, the formula makes it so that i get the ship collection's page. it ALSO updates itself whenever i write down a new ship. not only it's my most brilliant idea, but it's highly accurate : if the collection isn't on the right page, it's because there's an issue on my Kobo, not with the formula.

i gotta give credit to whom credit is due, none of this could have been possible without E, who is an excel/google sheet wizard, and never got tired of me asking her for help. i'd gladly share the formulas if someone's interested, but if it doesn't work right i'm most likely not gonna be able to help.

i'm interested in seeing how others reading trackers work, and how you made them perfect for you !

UPDATE : here are the formulas i use (i won't be much help if they don't work out though :/)

collection table formula : =SORT(UNIQUE(FILTER('Master Sheet'!E2:E,'Master Sheet'!E2:E<>"")))
for this one to work you also need this one =ARRAY_CONSTRAIN(ARRAYFORMULA(IFERROR(INDEX('Kobo collections'!A:A,MATCH(E2,'Kobo collections'!B:B,0)),"")),1,1)

rating count formula : =COUNTIFS(H:H,"Read",I:I,"*General*")

fics/works per ship formula : ={"Ship","Count","Wcount"; SORT( LET( data, UNIQUE(FILTER({C2:C,D2:D,E2:E,G2:G,H2:H}, H2:H="Read")), ships, UNIQUE(INDEX(data,,3)), { ships, COUNTIF(INDEX(data,,3), ships), MAP(ships, LAMBDA(s, SUM(FILTER(INDEX(data,,4), INDEX(data,,3)=s)))) } ), 1, TRUE ) }

UPDATE 2 : i forgot to talk about the random fics formula !
i have, in a separate tab, a list of all my TBR fics. it goes fic number in A, title in B, author in C. i used to go on google, generate a number, find the corresponding line, and read the fic. felt like too many steps, so i asked E to come up with a formula that would automatically pick a fic. this formula is in D, and all i have to do is type roll in A1 for it to choose a new fic for me. love it !
=INDEX(FILTER(B2:B5504, B2:B5504<>""), RANDBETWEEN(1, ROWS(FILTER(B2:B5504, B2:B5504<>""))))

i often see people asking for opinions on which to choose, and as someone who switched from one to the other, i wanted to compare the two and share my thoughts :) (i have a green basic kindle and a color Clara, both basic devices from the brands)

- the home screen : on a Kindle, there is more "space" used to sell you e-books than there is to show you the books already available. on a Kobo, only the bottom left corner is a shortcut to the store.

- lockscreen : on a Kindle, it's pre-set, and can be changed (i googled it, but never did). one of the options you have when buying one (on top of the color), is to choose if you want to remove the ads that are displayed when waking Kindle. it's 10 euros more. Kobo : can easily be changed, no ads shown.

- brightness : Kindle is more white light, if that makes sense. Kobo : there's a natural light option that you can set to automatically start between 9pm and 3am. i find that the Kobo light is more easier on the eyes than the Kindle. the intensity can be changed with the dropdown menu, and on a Kobo, also by sliding your finger up and down on the left side, only when having a book open. both have a dark mode option.

- adding books : i read fanfics with both, which obviously can't be bought, so i add them. Kindle : you can email 25 files per mail (each device has its own unique email address available in settings/your account), or go here where you can send as much as you want. note that files can't be put back. they can be deleted, but if your only copy is on the Kindle, you won't be able to transfer it back. Kobo : the easiest and fatest way is to plug the device. there's a website, but you can only send one file at a time.

- organization : on a Kindle, books can be only filtered as unread or read, and on a Kobo, there's also the reading filter (among others i don't see the use of). both allow you to create collections to organize your books as you want, but the Kobo also has an option to see all books organized by authors (i don't really know how to explain this, but it's like how in a library you'll go to K in fiction and will find all Stephen King books, instead of finding It in I and Carrie in C). there's also a filter option there.

- reading : Kindle will either tell you how many pages you have left in the chapter, how long till you finish the book, or your location. Kobo will talk in pages, time or percentages, and you can show one info on top, and another at the bottom. there are more text size options on a Kobo than a Kindle, so now the smallest size on Kindle feels too big. there are ten pre-set fonts on a Kindle, VS 18 on a Kobo, and you can very easily add more. you can highlight in both, but i find it more annoying to highlight on a Kindle : if you select a word, it'll automatically display the definition, and you have to click on the A to let the device know you want to highlight, whereas Kobo will automatically know you want to highlight if you keep selecting words.

- internet : both devices have a search engine, and to me the Kobo's slighty faster to load than the Kindle's.

- customization : on a Kobo you can set up your own lockscreen(s), and give fanfics their own covers. i think the only thing possible on a Kindle is to have your own lockscreen.

- bonus : Kobo tracks down your readings and can give you stats. Kindle displays the last book open, at the bottom of the screen.

- price : the Kindle basic costs 109/119 euros (ads/ad free), the Clara BW is at 129 euros. the color Clara i have is at 169 euros, and its amazon equivalent costs 100 euros more.

my own thoughts : the only thing i think Kindle did better than Kobo is to give us color options (there's a white Clara now, but it wasn't available when i bought mine). i'd recommend everyone to get a Kobo, cause to me they're the e-reader made with the customer experience in mind. a Kindle feels like a pratical device, but one that needs some changes.

i think i covered most of it, if not all, but if there's something you'd like to know, just ask !

UPDATE : three things i forgot to say. A) i find that kindle is less reactive to the touch when i swipe pages. B) whenerver i added fanfics, i need to click on it for it to be downloaded. C) a fanfic added on a Kobo with send.djazz will have a different format, will be displayed differently and will be different to read.
