Advice for a newbie (19)

Hi lads I’m 19,

I’ve got all my pre-required recreational qualifications and some more on my own back to just make sure this is what I want to do (I know recreational isn’t anything like commercial)

I’ve also completed a dive in a Kirby Morgan 37 surface supplied and was happy.

As my place at dive school is coming up closer and closer I’m just on here asking for advice before I go away.

Nobody in my family’s ever really done this kind of thing so the excitement and certainly some nerves are hitting me now but I’m just wondering; if you could tell someone who’s just about to start school some things you wish you were told - what would it be?

Appreciate the help everyone, thank you.

Edit: not sure if this is helpful;
I’m qualified in the following

- Mechanical Engineering Maintenance and Repair
- Completed 1 year at university doing civil engineering
- Started up a wind turbine and completed fault checks
- 400 hours industry experience in CNC workshops specifically for maritime vessels and some I can’t disclose.

One for the divers

I’m currently 5 months out from attending commercial dive school

If I joined the navy as a diver would they put me through my HSE Scuba and Surface supplied or would this be pursued once out of service.
