My dad’s early diagnosis and dealing with it
So my dad was diagnosed with parkinson’s when he was 48 and for the first few years was dealing with it well. He is 57 now and his condition has severely deteriorated, he can’t walk short distances without a cane, has regular falls and it seems his mental state has gone downhill too. he seems very disoriented, doesn’t sleep well, struggles to understand or reply when we talk to him, and forgets things a lot. But at the same time refuses to do activity or exercise and will not hire a caretaker or a physical therapist. It’s been giving my mom a lot of stress as me, my mom and my siblings all work and he is home alone with the dogs a lot. i guess im just struggling with how to help him or just deal with it, my dad means a lot to me and i just don’t know how to make him understand that he needs further help.
Any similar experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you
