From “OH NO!” to “Im obsessed” our Rep Unboxing experience. #GroupBuy
For Royal Factory pieces, a slight smell on unboxing is pretty typical and usually comes from the same general causes but there are a few nuances with that factory.
Why Royal Factory items may smell
High-resin leather finish
Royal Factory often uses coated or heavily finished leathers to achieve that “structured luxury look.” The protective coating can give a faint chemical or plastic-like scent when brand new.
Industrial-grade glue
Bags and shoes are assembled with strong adhesives to keep structure sharp and long-lasting. That glue smell is strongest right after sealing and shipping.
Tight factory packaging
Royal Factory items are usually packed very tightly in dust bags + plastic wrap. With no airflow, the scent gets “trapped” and hits you all at once during unboxing.
Hardware coating
Metal parts (chains, clasps, zippers) are often coated to prevent tarnish. That coating can add a mild metallic or chemical smell at first.
Storage + transit time
If it sat in a warehouse or traveled in heat, the smell becomes more noticeable when you first open it.
How to fix it faster (works well for Royal Factory items)
Open the bag fully and let it breathe in a shaded, ventilated area
Stuff it with clean white paper or tissue (change daily)
Place activated charcoal nearby overnight
Wipe interior lightly with a dry microfiber cloth
Avoid heat, sunlight, or perfume sprays (they can damage finish)
