What may this coin be worth?
So to start off with I did not know anything about this coin. My great aunt passed away and I was helping my family to clean out her estate. She was an avid coin collector but we thought her caretakers had stolen all of her coins. I expressed an interest in the jewelry and I found this coin hidden away amongst that wrapped in a piece of paper (I attached a photo and only marked out the name written). I brought it to a shop with my mom to ask about it and I was told it is a coin from the Indian head series called a 1911 strong D. The man did not give me the best vibe. He got very excited when he saw it and pulled out a book with a list of dates and things with a price listed next to this coin that was around $3000 (this was in 2023 so I can’t remember the exact price). He said he collects this series of coins and this was the last one he had needed to complete his set and that he had already gotten one but would be happy to buy mine from me and have another. He said that it looked like it had been cleaned but that he would still buy it from me for the listed price. I did not sell it and I felt this encounter was a good sign that I should be careful that I know more about what it’s worth before I were to sell it. I am now in a position where I could really use the money and want to make sure that I am more informed. I have done some research, but I truly know nothing about coins. From what I’ve gathered, I know that condition and whether it’s been cleaned or not really impact value. I tried to take the best photos I could with my phone. Is there any way to gauge from the photos if it looks like it actually has been cleaned or what the value due to condition may be? I would appreciate any and all help that you all can provide!
