Most of the deep sea floor isn’t mapped—is it likely that more is mapped but classified in the interest of nuclear submarine operations.
It’s very probable I just don’t know enough about oceans or submarines and this is silly. I’m thinking about how there are these nuclear submarines roving the ocean staying hidden and I’m wondering if:
a) these subs themselves map the deep ocean as they travel and revealing those mappings would reveal info about the travel patterns/capabilities of the nuclear program
or
b) some countries have likely made more extensive mapping but keep them classified for nuclear or other strategic reasons.
