We got frustrated with workout apps, so me and 2 friends built our own — looking for honest feedback

A few months ago me and 2 friends realized we were all using workout trackers but had the same complaints:

  • Too many locked features
  • Too much clutter
  • Felt like filling spreadsheets during workouts
  • Almost no social motivation

So instead of complaining, we built our own.

It's called Ryft - The workout tracker built by friends, for friends.

Current features:

  • Create workout plans and workout days
  • Track sets, reps, weights, and timed exercises
  • Rest timers
  • Progress tracking
  • Social workout activity
  • Gamification (XP, streaks, levels, achievements)

The interesting part is that we originally built it only for ourselves and our friend group. But after using it, we thought:

"Maybe other people are frustrated by the same things."

Now we're looking for people willing to test it and give honest feedback.

A few questions:

  1. What's the biggest thing you dislike about your current workout app?
  2. What feature would make you switch immediately?
  3. What feels missing in fitness apps today?

I'll be reading every response and adding ideas to our roadmap.
