should i switch from copper IUD to mirena

i have had the copper IUD for 3 years now, and prior to having it my periods were quite regular and mild like i never used to have cramps. naturally after having the IUD, my periods are worse. this has been fine, but in the past 6 months i have felt my PMS has been so bad, like i literally feel like a different version of myself in the two weeks before my period. i also bleed for over 7 days, although most of it it’s the annoying light spotting

i chose the copper iud as it seemed to be the one most void of messing up with your emotions weight etc.. but clearly it isn’t without side effects. i did go to the gp to get some advice about whether i should switch, and they suggested that if i am concerned about pms symptoms i should go on the pill which i am definitely not doing

so i am wondering if anyone has any advice on the mirena iud, how has it been wirh the hormonal fluctuations of the period? i do like having a menstrual cycle to be in touch wirh where i am at different times, but i would just like if it can be regulated a bit more by the mirena

i have read a few comments under some posts talking about this but wondering if anyone has some more specific advice
