Wilson Parking unable to provide receipt for transaction, now stuck with fine despite my bank statement showing the transaction
Hello all,
I parked in a Wilson’s carpark on April 25th. After making payment I took a photo of the “download receipt” message (work habit).
On April 28th I received a breach notice citing non-payment. Thankfully I had the photo to claim my receipt, however when I followed the instructions to download it, the site said my transaction could not be found.
I attempted to appeal the breach notice, describing the issue I was facing and providing a photo of the machine. This appeal was denied.
I followed by emailing Wilson Parking directly. At first they were very responsive, replying within an hour. In total 5 emails were exchanged on April 29th (three sent by me, two sent by them). Since then they have not responded.
I followed up on May 4th to ask if they had found my transaction, no response.
I emailed again on June 2nd, and again, have not had a response.
I have provided Wilsons Parking with the photo of the machine and a screenshot of my bank statement, as well as time and location information.
I haven’t asked my bank to reverse the transaction as I don’t want to put myself in a position where I actually haven’t paid. I also have not paid the breach notice.
What’s the best thing for me to do next? Is there someone above Wilsons I can talk to? Is this a matter for IRD/Commerce Commission?
