Foreign nurse in California is it really impossible to get RN approved here?
I have a nursing diploma from Armenia and I’m currently trying to evaluate it in California for RN. They asked me for all the paperwork from both my university and the Ministry of Education, and I already submitted everything they requested.
They also told me I need to complete TOEFL with these scores:
Reading 22
Listening 22
Writing 22
Speaking 26
So right now I’m studying for that.
What worries me is what happens after. I’ve heard from many people that it becomes very difficult because California may ask you to complete deficiencies in subjects like OB/midwifery or psychiatric nursing, and many schools don’t accept international students just for a couple missing classes because it’s not a full program.
If anyone here went through this process, especially if you studied nursing in another language and not English like I did, can you please share your experience? How did your evaluation go? Were you able to complete deficiencies? Which school accepted you?
I honestly feel very lost with this process and would really appreciate any advice. Thank you.
