Pearls between my teeth
Gritty and white
Grinding beneath my bite
Falling around my neck
Circling my throat
I don’t mean to gloat
You see, my sister got me these
So calloused and bright
She bought them on sight
I wear them like a trophy
Her love enveloping me
If only I knew, love comes with a fee
