even while watching it the first time, it’s just so predictable. I don’t like predictable movies. yeah ik creed will win in the end but adonis being so hard headed just sucks

Just finished Rocky 5 and Rocky 6 for the first time + Creed again

yoooo

im tryna become a boxer and thought it was time to revisit an old friend. I was gonna start with Rocky 6, but thought fuck it and decided to see what i was missing with Rocky 5 and I genuinely loved it

its a complete return to form and it makes sense. the opening scene where Rocky starts developing cte BROKE me and Adrian’s reaction is just as brutal. tommy morrison was fine, it was campy, over the top, but that’s kinda the goal. Rocky in 5 is a man past his prime refusing to let go of the past and thinks Tommy will make him young again. it semi works but Tommy was to greedy and money hungry and clearly didn’t appreciate what Rocky was doing for him and he’s a bum and shoulda been left on the streets where he found him.
I LOVE micky flashback and I literally cried my eyes out cuz of how unexpected it was. and seeing the reminiscent of micky’s gym and stallone the old relic tryna rediscover himself is really sad. like good sad. he doesn’t know who he is if he isn’t a fighter and it’s heartbreaking but realistic. I genuinely loved it, especially when adrian tells Rocky to stop living in the past. stop looking back and accept reality. easier said than done but it all makes sense. OH and we FINALLY see Rocky slipping/rolling punches in the final fight so that was AWESOME!

Rocky 6 was somehow even better and more enjoyable. seeing Rocky as the last one left mourning Adrian (rip) and just a shell of himself was indescribable.. b4 he had his family, now he genuinely has nothing. he’s just a relic. a dead man walking and he knows it. makes me think about my GMA too and how she’s doing post her husbands death, and I love how he tries to help out Lil marie and her son, he’s just a GREAT guy. even showing us his old mobster roots!! and I love how Rocky is still a guy just following his heart and passion. really inspiring. that training montage was PEAK af and insane that a 50+ man can clean n jerk 315 like wtf!!!

love the callbacks too! just everything. his repairing the relationship with his son was great and should teach us all to be a lil nicer to our parents (generally speaking of course)

and him remembering Adrian and how young they looked, the ice rink, meat packet place, the dilapidated gym, and even him falling for lil Marie because she has the same shyness and mannerisms that Adrian had is really beautiful. a phenomenal way to end the series… “yo Adrian we did it” had me in tears man

and with creed, it somehow continues his story by him once again, being a dead man walking and his fight is all gone. he gets cancer and Rocky just doesn’t even wanna fight. he would rather die and join his friends then be among the living anymore and that’s BRUTAL. my dad had cancer and survived so him having the same cancer (non Hodgkin’s lymphoma) really hit home to me + creeds whole story of building legacy is awesome! rocky has a new reason to fight (mirroring micky telling Rocky that Mickys only alive because of Rocky since Micky was the last one left too) and Rocky has a new reason to fight. he has a new family. and creed ACTUALLY thanks Rocky showing he’s different than Tommy. Rocky also not wanting to train Leo is amazing cuz Rocky had no ties to him and he knows it. Cant wait for the CONFIRMED CREED 4 WOOOO

LESS GO
