How to avoid getting stuck at automated parking gates in Busan/Seogwipo? (Foreign card issues)

I’m currently planning a road trip itinerary that includes driving around Busan and Seogwipo (Jeju). I've been researching the logistics and know that public parking lots (공영주차장) are mostly automated and use license plate recognition.
However, I’ve read conflicting things online about payment methods at the unmanned kiosks. Some travelers say international credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) work fine, while others say they get constantly rejected at the barrier gates.
Do the automated machines accept international Visa/Mastercard? If not, does a Wowpass or Namane Card or what kind of prepaid IC card work seamlessly at the parking barriers or at the automated machine? Are there any specific parking apps I should download beforehand to link a card? Are cash-accepting public lots completely extinct in these cities now?
