Did a top-tier GMAT score actually impact your career/life more than an average score?

We all know the GMAT is a standard filter for business schools. However, considering the $80k–$200k tuition fees, it's hard to believe programs outright reject candidates solely over a mediocre score—it feels more like a tiebreaker for limited cohort spots.

I’m curious to hear from alumni: did achieving an exceptionally high GMAT genuinely open doors for you compared to having an average score? Beyond merely securing admission to a top program, did that high score directly translate to tangible career opportunities, scholarships, or advantages down the line?
