Possible abcess no symptoms?

In 2020 I had a molar crack maybe a quarter of the way off due to poor dental hygiene as a kid and grinding my teeth. Was going to get it taken care of but didn’t have dental insurance and it honestly never gave me any problems. No pain, swelling, etc. (stupid on my part I know) I put it off. Well a few weeks ago I was eating lunch and surprise another piece of the molar broke off and now I have about half of he molar remaining. Still no pain or swelling however I have some intermittent aching not really bad pain but enough for me to not forget about it. I went to aspen dental and was quoted $18,000 for dental work (pull wisdom teeth and cracked tooth and treat gum inflammation). Obviously didn’t go through with it as I feel that’s astronomically high. I have an appointment in 3 weeks with an oral surgeon for a consult and treatment plan. My question is…. I’m very worried after reading online about tooth infections and abscesses that they can turn fatal if left untreated. I don’t currently have any symptoms of an abcess no swelling or serious pain or pimple on my gums but I do have severe health anxiety and a major fear of the dentist. And I can’t help but wonder if I have an infection with no symptoms? I was given antibiotics by my doctor before a recent trip to Tennessee just incase it did in fact start to be noticeably an infection. Should I take the antibiotics as a precautionary before appointment or should I hold off until my appointment unless I start to develop clear abcess/infection symptoms?
