Toyota Safety Sense, Pre-Collision System Experience

Hi people of CarsPH, this post aims to get your opinion and two cents on the effectivity of PCS.
The story goes, I was involved in a minor accident where the pre-collision system took over and braked for me, then got rear-ended after … it was minor (left corner of rear bumper got pushed, popped out, and now misaligned - with a few minor scratch on the bumper and and a minor dent on the rear door)
The context of how this happened is, I was pulling out into a main road to make a right turn (Molino-Paliparan) coming from Bellfort Estates … I would say this place is a bit tricky because it’s on a downward slope before entering the main road … so then, I was pulling out onto the main road following a car that has just passed from my left slowly. At this point, to my surprise, PCS took over and braked the car violently … I was shaken up by it because I’m certain that I was not too close to following the car that I had let passed before entering … after that, I was rear ended …
What do you guys think about this situation?
