Got tired of ScreenLogic's glitchy UI and built my own pool app — v1.5 just went live with free storm alerts at your pool coordinates

I have Pentair EasyTouch and ScreenLogic has been driving me nuts for years — laggy toggles, phantom pump states that “fix themselves” 30 seconds later, connection drops, and a layout that feels like it was never tested by actual users.

I know a lot of people here go the Home Assistant / RS-485 route, and respect to anyone who’s made that work. But I wanted the same ScreenLogic control I already have in an app that’s intuitive, fast, honest about circuit state, and doesn’t fight me every time I open it.

So I built PoolOS — full disclosure, I’m the developer and I use it on my own pool every day, not a demo setup.

It does everything I need from ScreenLogic today (pumps, Schedules, heater, lights, salt, circuits) when you're at home or out on vacation. Toggles actually respond. What you see matches what’s running. v1.5 is live on the App Store now.

The thing I’m most excited to share is Storm Watch, which is free: NWS severe weather alerts pinned to your pool’s coordinates — not a county-wide watch that covers half the metro. Tornado warnings, severe thunderstorm, flash flood, high wind — straight to your phone in the app. Manufacturer apps don’t touch this stuff.

There’s a premium tier (Weather Guard) for heat pump protection when outdoor temps get risky for the compressor, and Lightning Proximity is on the roadmap. Storm Watch stays free.

Being straight about scope: Pentair EasyTouch / IntelliTouch via ScreenLogic is what’s fully supported right now. Jandy and Hayward are not shipped yet — I’m looking for iAquaLink and OmniLogic owners who want to help test drivers as co-builders, not people to sell a finished multi-brand app to. iOS only for now.

Happy to answer questions about how it connects, or whether it’s worth trying if you’re already deep in a DIY stack. What would you actually want fixed in ScreenLogic (or iAquaLink / OmniLogic) that would make you switch?
